If the interviewer doesn’t get around to asking about your skills or why you are a good choice for the job you’ll have to speak up and tell him. Make sure you answer each of the main job requirements with an applicable accomplishment. Don’t hesitate to ask the questions you were prepared to ask. Things like: the priorities of the job? What is a typical day like in the job? What is the number one skill that makes a person successful in the job? Sell yourself at every opportunity.

Additional job interview skills to overcome the unskilled interviewer

Since the interviewer is not prepared or thinks they are being cute by asking questions like, “If you were an animal which one would you be?” Do your best to answer them. Keep your answers positive; never say anything negative about previous employers or supervisors.

Even though your patience is being tested, taking control of the interview may be the only way you can get the information you need. They may be a bad interviewer, or unprepared but you are the one being interviewed.

Do your job, manage the interview process and give it your best to get across why you are the best fit for the job. Be enthusiastic about the job, be positive, and smile a lot and the least you can say is you got in some very good interviewing practice.
